Daniel Hancar

Daniel Hancar, guitar, calls Oakdale, Pennsylvania, home with his beautiful wife Kate and their children Nils (28), Rory (24) Danielle (22) and Katia (20).

Dan lists his musical education as coming from learning by experience as well as getting lots of help from his friends. He has also worked with Joe Negri during seminars.

He has performed with The Vertigoes, Soul Squad, Zenoba, Bel and Hanczar, Bulls Eye Band, Route 30 Blues Band, Jesse Breen Band, In the Pocket, Doggybone Blues Band, Déjà Vu, Chismo Charles and the Blue Chords, Oakdale U.P. Praise Band, as well as in many pit orchestras for musical theater productions such as Godspell, Crazy for You, Kiss Me Kate, Hello Dolly and Les Miserables.

Dan earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Indiana University as well as a Masters of Education from the University of Pittsburgh. He has been a teacher for more than 30 years in the West Allegheny School District and currently enjoys being a 6th grade Geography teacher.

He enjoys writing and recording original music, being part of the school district’s Folk Music Club as well as spending time on the farm gardening, working on the house and walking with his dogs in the woods.

A CHANCE ENCOUNTER: ”Several years ago, while at a campground for a music festival, my friend and I were playing our guitars around our fire when a man approached with a violin and asked if he could jam with us. The music was awesome.  We later realized he was one of the headliners in the show, the great musician Vassar Clements.”

Dan performs on a Gibson ES-175 Acoustic and Classical guitar, as well as playing mandolin and banjo. He has been with the Trinity group since its inception in October 2003.
