Mark A. Godwin

Mark A. Godwin, tenor saxophone, hails from Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. He recently graduated  from Slippery Rock University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Music Education.

His teachers include George Hoydich and Terry Steele, and he has participated in master classes with Bob Mintzer, Dr. James Umble, Gary Smulyan and Mike Sakash.

Mark has performed with Slippery Rock University’s Jazz Ensemble I & II, Jazz Combo, Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Marching Pride, Saxophone Quartet; Butler Symphony, Sewickley Symphony, San Rocco Festa Band, Monaca Cornet Band, Beaver County Symphonic Wind Ensemble; Pit Orchestras for The Center Players Theater, New Brighton High School, Hopewell High School, Western Beaver High School and Beaver County Christian School.

During his stay at Slippery Rock University, he performed overseas at the Montreaux Jazz Festival (Montreaux, Switzerland), the North Sea Jazz Festival (Rotterdam, Holland), the Luxemberg Gardens in Paris, France, and also in Beaune, France with Slippery Rock University Jazz Ensemble I.

Mark has worked with Tammy Dahl, Gary Smulyan, Al Martino and Steve Snyder, as well as the many guest artists of the Trinity Jazz Orchestra.

He performs on a Selmer Paris Model 54 Reference tenor sax with a SR Tech Titan mouthpiece, a Yamaha YAS-52 alto sax  using a Meyer 5M mouthpiece,  a Buffet/Evette Master Model clarinet with a Morgan M15 mouthpiece, a Pearl PF-765 flute and  an Artley piccolo. Mark joined Trinity jazz in October 2004.
