Matthew Eckert

Matthew Eckert, piano and tenor sax, grew up in Hamilton, New Jersey, and after moving in 2001, calls Chicora, Pennsylvania, home with his lovely wife Lacey. Along with their cat Sunshine, they are expecting their first child any day now.
Matt earned a degree from Grove City College in Music Education and is pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Music Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
He has performed with the Nottingham Jazz Trio, Indigo Nights Jazz Quintet, Grove City College Jazz Band, Musicians’ Concert Band, Buddy Lee Orchestra, Jack Bowman Orchestra, and Jim Cunningham Orchestra.
Matt has also worked with Alan Vizutti, Byron Strippling, Chase Sanborn, and Ralph Lalama. He plays at restaurants around the region as a featured entertainer.
His current day job is as an elementary instrumental music teacher for the Butler Area School District. He enjoys hiking, fishing, hunting, gardening, reading and listening to music.
ON AUSPICIOUS BEGININGS: “My first steady piano gig was at an upscale restaurant called ‘RATS’.”
Matt performs on a Yamaha P-90 Electronic piano as well as a Selmer Super Action 80 tenor saxophone; He became part of the Trinity group during February 2005.
